Chapter 7: The Plot Twist

While we were still playing—

Taylor and Drew had finished.

They were bragging in the group:

"Four wins, one loss, at least we kept second place. As long as the other teams don’t lose more than two games, we’re set."

"Tch, don’t forget, that new princess put together a random team, they’re playing now."

"Damn, I checked, all the skilled players in other teams are rushing points at this hour. Aren’t they going to get wrecked?"

"If they lose five in a row and make us drop in rank, the captain has to kick those two out."

"Wait, why do I see Ace is in a match too?"

"At this hour? Impossible, he never joins team matches…"

Taylor frowned.

But the next second, she sneered:

"Ace must be playing ranked. That woman, can she really get Ace to play?"

But right at this moment—

The lone-wolf, cold and mysterious Ace they mentioned, was speaking in voice chat in a childish elementary school voice:

"Hurry, hurry, push top lane, push top lane!"

"Take the dragon, take the dragon, then end it, let’s push together."

"Yes, yes! Oh my god, Jessie, your Yao is so good, only died eleven times, you improved, you improved."

Jessie: "…Get lost."

Five games finished quickly.

With a "victory" we took the fifth win.

As soon as I exited the game—

Jessie Venmo’d me $3,000.

Seeing such a large amount, I was too scared to click it:

"Jess, you sent the wrong amount, it should be $1,500."

Jessie: "I’m going to shower. After I’m back, let’s keep playing. This is for the next round of matches."

I blurted out "holy crap," my hands trembling as I accepted the money.

Watching my secret stash skyrocket—

I was so excited I almost cried.

A few minutes later—

I took a screenshot of the five-win streak, planning to post it in the group.

As soon as I clicked in, I saw Taylor and others jumping up and down:

"They finished, the points went up, did they win?"

"No way, must be the other team won, theirs probably hasn’t settled yet."

"Captain, be sure to kick that princess and her simp out, they’re ruining our team’s atmosphere."

Drew immediately said:

"If we drop to third because of them, I’ll make sure they’re kicked out."

As soon as he said that—

I threw out a screenshot.

"Captain, five wins in a row."

My phone vibrated with notifications, and I could almost hear the stunned silence behind those little dots on Messenger. This was the kind of plot twist people made TikToks about.
