Chapter 4: Second Chances at 3 P.M.
My phone buzzed.
I glanced at the screen.
A new listing for Daisy Perfume.
I’d been watching listings for weeks.
I wanted the real thing for Mom.
I clicked in, no pride left.
Same city.
Maybe this was fate.
The cap showed her initials.
My breath caught.
I burst back in.
"Does Emily have family nearby?"
I couldn’t stand the thought of them selling it.
He sighed, tying on an apron.
"She comes to play with the cats."
It wasn’t much, but it was a start.
I thanked him and left.
I opened a chat with the seller.
My fingers flew over the keyboard.
"Come to my complex."
I felt a wave of relief.
We set a time.
I checked the address twice.
"See you at 3 p.m."
Maybe I could fix this after all.
