Chapter 6: Sword Intent and Shattered Rules

Derek’s face twisted with rage. He slashed a huge ‘sword’ into the air.

I moved faster, writing my own ‘sword’—the letters bold and unfamiliar.

“Hahaha!” Derek howled. “Copy me? With that spelling? There are eighteen ways to write ‘sword’—I’ve never seen yours!”

Lillian clutched her skirt, awe and longing flickering in her eyes. She whispered, “I always dreamed of doing that…”

She’d wanted this all her life. But in this world, women’s script had no power. My version was different.

I grinned. “Who says I spelled it wrong?”

Lillian looked puzzled. “I’ve practiced this word—eighteen variations. I’ve never seen yours.”

I winked. “It’s my own simplified version.”

“Simplified?” she echoed, tilting her head, hope flickering in her eyes.

“It’s for everyone,” I said quietly. “Men and women both.”

Lillian’s eyes went wide. “If we survive this, you have to teach me!”

Before I could answer, Derek roared, “You won’t get the chance!” His voice cracked—he was desperate now, the tension electric, like a final round in a championship game.

Above us, two long swords clashed—a battle of pure intent.

Derek’s sword trembled, then shattered and crashed to the ground.

My gaze narrowed. “It’s over. Now you can die.”

Derek shrank, voice shaking. “You’re just a janitor. If you kill me, Senator Maddox will come for you—”

I cut him off, forcing out a single word: “Strike!”

A sword of light exploded overhead—neighbors peeked out, joggers stopped, even the dogs barked at the sky.

Lillian whispered, “Are you the reincarnation of some ancient sage?”

Derek collapsed in terror. The sword of light hung above, a hundred stories high, power radiating like a god’s judgment.

He begged, “Don’t kill me…”

But the sword came down with a thunderous crash, shaking the whole estate. When the dust settled, everyone stared at me like I’d just rewritten the rules of the world. And maybe…I had.
