Chapter 7: Loyalty Test
Seeing this, everyone started teasing.
The house echoed with laughter, playful nudges flying.
“Wow, Brooks is embarrassed. Now I’m really curious about the name.”
One girl leaned in, wiggling her eyebrows.
“Hehe, I bet the name is related to Brooks.”
Another guest stifled a giggle behind her hand.
Everyone egged him on, and under the crowd’s teasing, Alex Brooks cleared his throat.
He raised his chin, trying to look dignified, but his ears were bright red.
“Fine, I’ll tell you. She insisted on naming the dog Brookie, like the dessert.”
That got a collective aww from the guests. Someone started humming a wedding march under their breath.
Chris Young put on an envious face. “Ugh, another mouthful of couple goals—I can’t film this show anymore.”
He collapsed dramatically onto the couch, making everyone laugh harder.
[Little Princess loves Brooks so much. Even the dog’s name revolves around him.]
[Getting force-fed couple goals the whole time. Spare us single folks, I’m so jealous.]
[The Alaskan is so pretty, must be pampered by Brooks.]
The corners of my mouth twitched in disbelief.
I bit back a grin, imagining Little Monster with a nametag that read ‘Brookie.’
Did Little Monster agree to change his name?
He’d probably only accept it for Tessa. Anyone else, and he’d howl the roof off.
Sharp-eyed fans caught my expression and immediately started hurling comments.
Within seconds, the chat blew up—screenshots of my confused face everywhere.
[What’s with Mark Taylor’s face? So sour.]
[Sour about what? Brooks’s words are cringey. Isn’t it normal to be speechless?]
[Mark Taylor must be plotting to steal Little Princess from Brooks.]
[He can only dream. Little Princess only likes Brooks. Not just any random guy can win her over.]
Alex Brooks was all smiles at Chris Young’s words, leading the Alaskan back to the house.
He waved like a homecoming king, leash in hand, but the dog just sat down and stared at the crowd.
But the dog just sat there, unmoving.
His big brown eyes scanned the crowd, looking for someone else.
He looked around, as if searching for someone.
[Daddy, where are you~ I can smell your scent.]
A few guests tried to coax him, but he ignored them, stubborn as ever.
Alex Brooks awkwardly smiled at the camera. “Brookie, let’s go.”
He gave the leash a gentle tug, but the Alaskan didn’t budge, shooting him a look as haughty as Tessa on her worst day.
The Alaskan turned his head away with a haughty air, just like Tessa.
You couldn’t script this kind of comedy.
Thinking of this, I couldn’t help but laugh.
I stifled a chuckle, glancing at the camera crew who were barely keeping it together themselves.
Little Monster heard my voice and tried to break free from Alex Brooks’s leash.
Little Monster lunged, the leash slipping, and for a second, it was pure slapstick—someone tripped over a ring light, and I swear I heard a camera operator swear under his breath.
He yanked so hard the leash slipped through Brooks’s hands. For a second, it was chaos—guests jumping back, the director shouting, and Little Monster barreling straight toward me.
[Ahhh, as expected of the dog raised by Brooks and Little Princess! That head-turn is too cute, I’m dying from the cuteness.]
[Can Brooks fans stop pretending? The dog didn’t even look at Alex Brooks.]
[Haha, I’m cracking up. Brooks fans, come look—why doesn’t Little Princess’s dog care about your Brooks?]
[Haters are just making stuff up. If the dog isn’t close to Brooks, who else? Brooks is Little Princess’s real boyfriend.]
[Heh, Little Princess hasn’t even made it official, and you’re already calling him the real boyfriend. Don’t let it become a joke.]
[Honestly, I think the Alaskan wants to go to Mark Taylor.]
[Pfft. If Brookie likes that jerk Mark Taylor, I’ll eat my hat.]
Seeing that comment, I sneered and waved at Little Monster. “Little Monster, come here.”
I snapped my fingers, and he bounded over, tail wagging, sending another round of laughter through the set. Little Monster pressed his nose to my palm. For now, at least, I had my dog back. But something told me the real circus was just getting started.
