Caleb’s face turned whiter than the sheets.
He grabbed the doctor’s hand tightly. “Doctor, what should I do? I can’t have my leg amputated, I still have…”
“I’m only twenty-three, my leg doesn’t even hurt that much, please save it, I’ll give you anything you want.”
The doctor shot Natalie a reproachful look and sighed.
“The best treatment window has been missed. I’ll do my best.”
The doctor shook off Caleb’s hand, leaving Caleb’s eyes empty, full of unwillingness and fear.
[Ah, why is this different from the original plot? The novel never said the main guy would be amputated.]
[I came to see the leads happily in love. Why is this so different from what I imagined?]
Natalie staggered beside him, her eyes instantly brimming with tears.
“How could this happen? Before, before it clearly didn’t need amputation…”
“Doctor, did you misdiagnose? The leg looks fine, isn’t it just a fracture? It should be fine with some wound care.”
“Don’t be afraid, no matter what, I’ll stay with you.”
I laughed. Did Natalie really not notice the hatred in Caleb’s eyes as he looked at her?
Caleb’s surgery was scheduled for that very day.
When he was wheeled out, only the upper half of his body under the blanket was raised—his lower half was empty.
Natalie’s vision went black and she fainted on the spot.
[Ahhh, the main girl fainted from the shock. Logically, with no supporting character causing trouble this time, why are the leads even more miserable than before?]
[Heavens… the main guy lost both legs. This is really a high-level paraplegia.]
[Not just two, all three are gone. He can’t have children in the future—can he still inherit the Evans family fortune?]
