After the dinner, the other side finally signed the contract.

Our flight home was booked for the next day.

My childhood friend Derek Foster happened to be in Portland and invited me out for drinks.

At the bar, we reminisced about old times.

We staggered out, arms around each other.

“Ryan, if I get rich, I won’t forget you!”

“Derek, of course!”

As we swayed along, someone suddenly blocked our way.

I looked up and saw Ethan’s stormy face.

I asked, “Mr. Carter, why are you here?”

He asked in a low voice, “Where are you two going?”

“To the hotel, obviously.”

It was already past eleven, so of course we had to go back to the hotel to sleep.

Derek’s place was far away, so he could only crash with me tonight.

But after hearing that, Ethan’s face got even darker.

He pulled Derek away from me.

“You want to sleep with him?”

His expression was about to crack, even a little aggrieved.

“He can, but I can’t?”

“Does he make you feel the way I do?”

“Are you as compatible with him as you are with me?”

Me: “Huh?”

I was completely confused.

He sounded so accusing, like I was a cheating scumbag.

I quickly explained that Derek and I weren’t like that.

His face instantly cleared up, his aura softening.

If I’d had any doubt that Ethan was jealous, it vanished with that barrage of questions. Derek, meanwhile, was so hammered he didn’t notice a thing—he just mumbled something about Taco Bell and tried to high-five Ethan. I stifled a laugh.
