Chapter 1: Bedmate or Nothing?

The morning sun never even rise finish when my phone buzz. My eyes still dey heavy.

When my parents called me to say I should go to my childhood friend's house to help with his blind date, my childhood friend was actually sleeping right beside me.

The thing just tire me that morning. I nearly laugh because I no believe say after all the yeye wey me and Tobi dey do, na another babe my people wan make I help arrange for am. For this Lagos where everybody dey hustle, na me dey play assistant to blind date matter.

At first, I thought they were just playing. I leaned close and whispered, “Tobi, your parents say dem don arrange blind date for you.”

For my mind I dey wonder if e even fit work. But Tobi just dey sleep, him mouth dey open small, one hand still wrap me like say na me be him pillow. I smell the faint scent of his shea butter cream, see the way morning light dey play for his forehead.

He just muttered, “Mm,” then lazily pulled me into his arms. “Good Kamsi, abeg help me pick clothes later, and help me do my hair.”

I feel his warm breath for my ear, and the soft way he dey drag words. Na so I just stiff, heartbeat dey drum like generator. My leg dey tangle with him bedsheet, I dey pray make my phone no ring again. The way he hold me be like say nothing dey worry am. I wonder wetin dey his own mind sef.

As I just dey freeze, no fit move, Tobi opened his eyes and smirked:

“What’s wrong with you? No be just bedmate we dey do? Or you dey think say na you I go carry go altar?”

Him dey look me with that kin mischievous smile wey dey always dey his face when he wan yarn dust. I for slap am, but I just dey weak.
