After I called her out, she actually changed her tune and messaged me privately.

The notification surprised me. For all her big talk, I didn’t expect her to slide into my DMs after her group performance. Still, I opened the message, curious.

"Aubrey, I paid you a year's rent before! How can you say stuff like that about me in the group?"

"Take a good look—your place was basically a bare shell when I moved in! I fixed it up little by little. Even if you rent it out again, you can charge more! With that in mind, is it so wrong to let me off two months' rent?"

"So when I confronted you in the group, you had to clap back even harder, huh? It's not like I owe you money!"

I didn't hold back. I took a screenshot and posted it in the group chat.

A few quick taps and the receipts were out in public. I figured if she was willing to air out our business in front of everyone, I could play the same game.
