Chapter 2: The Underdog and the Queen Bee

I’m a nobody in showbiz, barely E-list. Two years after my debut, I’ve only managed to land three supporting roles in TV dramas.

I can still remember standing at the back of the set, clutching a half-wilted script, the main cast ignoring me like I was invisible. Nobody remembers the E-listers unless we spill coffee on a star’s shoes.

It’s not because I don’t have a powerful agent or because my acting sucks. It’s because I have a jealous boyfriend.

He can’t stand me doing romantic scenes. He can’t even handle me being away on set for months—he wishes he could keep me glued to his side.

He’s the kind of guy who’ll text you five times before breakfast and FaceTime you at midnight just to make sure you’re alone in your apartment. Sometimes I half expect him to install a nanny cam in my living room.

So, after two years, I’m still stuck at the bottom.

My agent got me a few reality shows to boost my exposure.

She’s classic old-school L.A.—always pushing me to smile bigger and wear something brighter. “America loves an underdog,” she said, but first I have to actually get in front of people.
