Chapter 11: A Risky Ritual
With the address, an old spiritualist gave Lisa advice: find someone with strong energy and a tough spirit to accompany Megan to the site. Find the original owner, and at noon, dig it up and burn it clean. Break its hold and completely sever this toxic bond.
The old woman apparently worked out of a shop behind a dry cleaner on the edge of town—one of those places with crystals in the window and faded tarot cards taped to the glass. Lisa would’ve tried anything at that point.
But this method was risky. If the person she found couldn’t suppress the thing, both he and Megan might never return.
Lisa’s hands shook as she told me that. I could tell she half-believed it herself, but was willing to gamble on a stranger if it meant saving her child.
